Dear parishioners of St. Joseph, Deacon Andrew, and all staff members,
Slowly my time in your parish will end. My last weekend is June 22/23. After that I will take my annual holiday for 2 weeks in Canada and 2 weeks in Great Britain (UK).
I want to say thank you for accepting me during these few months. Thank you for your smiles and your wishes and the few cards that you gave me.

Congratulations!
On Friday, June 7th, 36 youth from our parish received the Sacrament of Confirmation with Bishop Jon Hansen from the Diocese of Mackenzie-Ft. Smith. Additionally, 31 children received first holy communion the following day on June 8th.
A very special thank you to Fr. Chris, Deacon Andrew, our music ministry, hospitality ministry, altar serving ministry, and the ladies from CWL for your support and service! It was indeed a joyous weekend celebrating God's gifts to us through these sacraments!
Chalice Update
Chalice extends their heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Sobanski and St. Joseph parish for hosting a Child Sponsorship Weekend on the Feast of Corpus Christi. As a result, 16 children were sponsored, in addition to those who are usually sponsored after more time and consideration. On behalf of these children, we give thanks to God that you have revealed His love to them and have given them hope for the future!

NEWS FROM ST. JOSEPH’S CONFERENCE
SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL
URGENT NEED FOR A TREASURER
After 7 years of serving St. Joseph’s Conference our treasurer has resigned. We are seeking someone from our Parish to fill this volunteer position.
It is important that this person relate to our cause of helping the Poor; understand and believe in our mission of charity and oversee the Conference’s financial management and operations. Other requirements include current police check, a background in finance/accounting, a computer, and such skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- On a weekly basis pick up donations, complete bank deposit and deposit to the bank.
- Post donations using Parish Friendly software program.
- Perform basic bookkeeping duties using QuickBooks.
- Maintain Conference set of accounts.
- Reimburse members for purchases made on behalf of the Society.
- Make payments for expenses.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- At year end, submit annual financial reports to SSVP National.
- At year end, print Donation receipts from Parish Friendly and mail.
- In March, file CRA income tax return for previous year.
A treasurer is critical to the existence of our Conference of St. Vincent de Paul. Our finances are not complex, our main source of funding are donations from St. Joseph’s Parish. Funds are used to purchase food/gift cards and occasionally pay rent or utilities.

From small things great things are possible with God. The parable of the mustard seed is well known among Christians as are the other parables of Jesus. One can imagine Jesus surrounded by large crowds of people all wanting to know the great secrets and wonders of the universe that the Son of God must possess, and he speaks in simple parables.
- Christ’s parables are often like a parent explaining to a child deep and complicated truths of life. How have you told your children (or people who do not share your faith) about your faith in God and the promise of salvation?

The Pope's Prayer Intention - June 2024
In recent years, the number of forcibly displaced people has surpassed the number during the Second World War. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), in 2023, there were 110 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. Pope Francis has called for migrants to be accompanied, supported, and integrated.
The Church also encourages people to pray for migrants on the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, with the theme for 2024 being "God walks with his People," to be observed on Sep. 29.
